The Okura Prestige Bangkok is thrilled to announce a captivating evolution in its afternoon tea experience with the launch of the “Sense of Tsubaki Afternoon Tea” at Up & Above Restaurant and Bar. This season marks the debut of a breathtaking new floral display, transforming the traditional afternoon tea into a multi-sensory celebration of nature’s artistry. The “Sense of Tsubaki Afternoon Tea” is available from 15 January, 2025.
Imagine a delicate flower, its petals gracefully unfurling to reveal a treasure trove of delights. This vision has inspired the creation of a stunning new afternoon tea stand, a bespoke piece design to capture the very essence of a blossoming bloom. Inspired by Japan’s profound connection with nature, where flowers symbolise the passage of time and the beauty inherent in each season.
The fluid, organic form of the stand evokes a sense of growth and natural elegance, mirroring the ephemeral beauty of flowers in bloom. It is a stage designed to elevate the culinary creations, inviting guests to pause, appreciate the present moment, and experience the beauty of each season through both design and flavours. This launch is a celebration of craftsmanship and a testament to The Okura Prestige Bangkok’s commitment to providing unique and memorable experiences.
The inaugural “Sense of Tsubaki Afternoon Tea” celebrates the Tsubaki, or camellia, a symbol of resilience and elegance that graces Japan’s winter landscape. Its rich hues of red and white provide the inspiration for both the stand’s aesthetic and the menu’s robust flavours. The floral display itself takes on a deeper, richer tones, echoing the strength and elegance of the Tsubaki.
The culinary team has meticulously crafted a menu that complements the Tsubaki’s vibrant spirit and the winter season. Guests will savour delectable savoury bites, including ‘Chicken parfait terrine’ with cranberry chutney; ‘Wild tomato’ with king crab and ebiko; ‘Smoked duck’ with raspberry and beetroot; and ‘BBQ pork puff’ with amazu shoga and sorrel.
The sweet offerings are equally enchanting, showcasing the finest winter ingredients. Indulge in the rich decadence of a ‘Black Forest Gateau.’ Delight in the light and airy ‘Citrus Vanilla Mousse,’ a refreshing counterpoint to the season’s richness. Savour the smooth, nutty ‘Chestnut Chocolate Creameux,’ a velvety blend of chestnut purée and dark chocolate. Experience the delicate sweetness of ‘Raspberry Curd Hokkaido Milk Pudding,’ a creamy delight with a tangy raspberry twist. Bite into the crisp, buttery ‘Apple Caramel Almond Tart,’ its warm spices and sweet caramel creating a comforting embrace. Enjoy the creamy tang of ‘Redcurrant Cheesecake,’ a delightful balance of sweet and tart. Finish with exquisite ‘Chocolate Bon Bon’ and perfectly baked traditional ‘Scones,’ served with clotted cream and homemade jams.
